WHO WE ARE “L'Arte di Scegliere”, the words written after the name Casantonio on our shop front, mean “the art of choosing”.
But the art of choosing is not just about choosing shapes, or colours, or designs. It's about choosing people, places, direction.
In down to earth Tuscany the words “Bella Gente” are more likely to mean “good sorts” than “beautiful people”. From well before the time we opened our store and then ventured onto the internet, we have been incredibly lucky in coming across “good sorts”.
Ivo Pieraccioli; he refers to himself as “shop boy”, in truth nothing happens, or would have, without his incredible eye for shape and ear for business. Casantonio would not have been possible without him.
Mirella Chironi; trained in Heraldic design with an incredibile eye for color and style, she runs our workshop with energy and humour - as well as running house for Ivo and two daughters!
Paola Parti; a true daughter of Tuscany, untiring and ever optimistic. Her eye for weights and measures ensures the success of every shipment. Her spirit ensures a positive mood to the day! Paola is married to Maurizio and has a daughter.
Roberta Tinti; her's is the smile that greets you in our Cortona store, where she is equally at home recommending a particularly important piece or helping you count the door and drawer pulls for your kitchen. Roberta is “newlywed ” to Renato.
And then there's “us”...
Annie Crisp; born a Londoner, Annie has lived in Tuscany for 20 years. With a background of hospitality management and travel guiding, Annie came to retail as a late choice when becoming a single Mum put an end to those crazy shifts!
Antonio Prato; Ligurian by birth but brought up in Tuscany, Antonio has a retail background, and is also an expert (and passionate) bee-keeper. Antonio and his partner, Gloria, have two sons.
